Among the advantages of immigration to Canada, Russians and Ukrainians in the reviews most often highlight a high standard of living and security. The disadvantages of immigrants include a relatively high cost of living and high competition in employment.

Positive

-    Safety. According to the Global Peace Index, Canada ranks 11th among the countries with the highest level of security. Personal and public peace of mind is one of the main selection criteria among residents of the CIS countries, because according to the same rating, Ukraine and Russia occupy 152nd and 154th places, respectively.

-    High standard of living. According to Numbeo, in 2022, Canada is ranked 23rd in terms of quality of life among the countries of the world.

-    Low level of corruption. Canada is on the 14th place, according to the World Corruption Perception Index, where 0 is the maximum level, and 100 is its complete absence.

-    Nature and ecology. The North American country attracts migrants not only with its standard of living, but also with beautiful nature and good ecology. According to the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy, the state is in 20th place, ahead of its neighbor, the United States.

Minuses

-    The cost of living. The average living wage of a Canadian citizen is almost 2000 CAD (about 1300 EUR). This amount includes the costs of renting an apartment, utilities, Internet and mobile communications, as well as insurance (medical and automobile). For comparison: in Bulgaria, the subsistence minimum for one adult is 308 EUR.

-    Expensive communication and its limitation. The maintenance of mobile operators costs an average of 60 CAD (about 40 EUR) per month, while the use of the Internet is limited. Cable TV will cost 80 CAD (a little more than 50 EUR), it also has a traffic limit.

-    Expensive real estate. The cost of living space, and especially in cities such as Vancouver and Toronto, is very inflated due to the flow of immigrants. Good infrastructure and convenient location attract wealthy foreigners who want to invest in housing.

-    High competition in the labor market. Even the candidate's solid experience in his native country is not a guarantee of further employment in Canada. Preference will always be given to citizens and permanent residents, because the state authorities are primarily interested in maintaining a low unemployment rate in Canada.
